Committed to primary health care

“We are now committed – more than ever – to advance pharmacy to deliver better primary health care for everyone,” said FIP President Dominique Jordan as he opened the FIP’s Eastern Mediterranean Regional conference in Amman, Jordan. Mr Jordan said that the impact of pharmacists can be seen in the services they offer, such as vaccinations, and the health outcomes: “Every time pharmacists are involved, good results are achieved for patients. We anticipate the needs of health systems and populations and we are willing to extend and consolidate our roles in the future according to emerging and increasing needs.”

The conference “Envisioning the future together: Transforming pharmacy for better primary health care” was jointly organised by the Jordan Pharmacists Association.

The conference saw pharmacy leaders in the Eastern Mediterranean Region sign the Amman Commitment to Action on Primary Health Care, developed by FIP. With this, they have pledged to support efforts to achieve high-quality, safe, comprehensive, integrated, accessible, available and affordable health care for all.

FIP is committed to bringing more people, countries and organisations together to grow and support this important movement. Read the full commitment here.
